The Story Behind Lango's 2025 Results

The standout story is simple: Wisdom HS Akalo is one of the best A-Level schools in Uganda, and most national conversations miss it entirely.

In Sciences, Wisdom averaged 13.6 points across 227 candidates. In Arts, 13.7 points across 211 candidates. These are not cherry-picked results from a small, selective cohort — this is a school sending over 200 students in each stream and maintaining averages that would place it in the top half of Kampala's rankings.

St. Gracious SS Lira adds to Lango's strength. In Sciences, 372 candidates at 13.4 average points — the largest Science cohort in Northern Uganda at that average. St. Gracious's ability to maintain 13.4 points across 372 students is a testament to its teaching consistency.

Together, Wisdom HS Akalo and St. Gracious SS Lira make Lango's top two arguably the best upcountry top-two pairing in Uganda in 2025.

Sciences Rankings: Lango 2025

#1. Wisdom HS Akalo — 13.6 Points | 227 Candidates

Wisdom HS Akalo tops Lango Sciences with one of the most impressive regional performances in Uganda in 2025. A 13.6 average across 227 candidates is the kind of result that belongs in Uganda's national conversation. For parents in Lango, Lira, and the surrounding districts, this is the clear first-choice Sciences school.

#2. St. Gracious SS Lira — 13.4 Points | 372 Candidates

St. Gracious SS Lira enters 372 Science candidates — the largest Science cohort in all of Northern Uganda — and maintains a 13.4 average. The volume alone would normally drag an average down. Holding 13.4 across 372 students is a mark of institutional quality. St. Gracious is a school that can absorb large numbers of students without sacrificing results.

#3. Dara Christian HS Lira — 11.6 Points | 25 Candidates

A clear step down from the top two, Dara Christian HS (11.6 pts) is Lango's third-placed Sciences school. It also places sixth in Arts (10.7 pts, 25 candidates).

#4–7. The Mid-Table

Skyland HS (11.2 pts), Leo Atubo SS Lira (11.0 pts, 22 candidates), Dr. Obote Col. Boroboro (10.2 pts, 89 candidates), and Mentor SS Lira (10.0 pts, 58 candidates) complete the Science top seven. #2. St. Gracious SS Lira — 12.9 Points | 116 Candidates

St. Gracious drops its Arts cohort to 116 (from 372 in Sciences) and its average to 12.9 — it is more of a Sciences school. Still a strong second in the region's Arts rankings.
